BE A ENGLISH TEACHER IN OUR

PROJECT

Why teach English to adult refugees?

English is essential for families who have fled Syria (and the surrounding countries) and settled in Turkey. In order to rebuild their lives, they must apply for visas and obtain work, however, with Turkey facing an economic crisis, these opportunities are limited. Most refugees who find employment are not covered by workers’ rights and receive extremely low salaries.

We believe that learning English offers access to brighter futures; bringing freedom and independence and providing better employment.

Why teach English to refugee children?

Refugee children don’t have many options. Boys often drop out of school to work in clothes factories or end up on the street, collecting recycling in exchange for low pay.

Girls, between the ages of 12 and 18, often end up marrying men they have never met who are much older than them. These marriages are arranged by their own fathers who are desperate for money. In Middle Eastern tradition, families can receive a portion of their son-in-law’s dower when their daughters marry.

With your help we can change their destinies. Come and volunteer with us for a minimum of 30 days or maximum of 3 months to invest in the lives of these children.
